Bruce W. Long, B.A., LL.B. (Counsel) Mr. Long was called to the Ontario Bar in 1975 and joined Carters as litigation counsel in 2001 with an emphasis in criminal law. Mr. Long has had considerable experience in the criminal courts, having been the Regional Director of Crown Attorneys for Southwestern Ontario from 1989 to 1999, and Crown Attorney for Frontenac and Northumberland Counties from 1979 to 1989. He is the author of "Prosecutors Handbook" published by the Attorney General of Ontario, has lectured at the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada, and was the recipient of the Ministry of Attorney General's Special recognition for contributions to the Administration of Criminal Justice. Mr. Long is available to act on tribunal and administrative matters, including human rights hearings, regulatory offences and inquests through the Orangeville office of Carters. Mr. Long has prosecuted more than twenty culpable homicide cases, as well as acted as counsel for the Ministry of Natural Resources involving aboriginal matters, and. In recent years, Mr. Long has been a frequent speaker and author on amendments to the Criminal Code (Canada) regarding anti-terrorism legislation, criminal liability of organizations (Bill C-45), and hate propaganda (Bill C-250) and its impact on religious teachings, for the Christian Legal Fellowship, the Annual Church & Charity Law™ Seminar, and the Charity & Not-for-Profit Section of the Ontario Bar Association. Mr. Long, on behalf of Carters, has also been part of a volunteer team with the International Justice Mission in South Asia, which works to release people, including young children, from bondage in quarries, rice mills, brick factories, and brothels.
